Butter Cookies

Butter cookies is one of the most popular cookie types found in stores and served in families since its classic taste suits most people. The way to make it is also very simple. I will guide you how to with this recipe. I have tried it many times and find it the simplest and best recipe for this type of cookies.

Ingredients

165 gr salted butter at room temperature
(if using the unsalted, add 3gr salt)

1 egg at room temperature

85 gr sugar

155 gr flour

30 gr cornstarch

1 tsp Lemon zest

2 tsp vanilla sugar

Method

– Beat the butter and sugar until it becomes a pale cream mixture.

– Add the egg and continue to mix well until it looks smooth.

– Mix the flour, cornstarch and vanilla sugar together. Sift the flour mixture.

– Gradually add the flour into the butter cream mixture while mixing. You can divide it into twice or three times of adding flour to help the cream absorb the flour faster and make it easier to mix well.

– Add lemon zest and continue to mix until it is completely blended into the mixture.

– Preheat the oven at 170oC about 5 mins before baking.

– Put some of the mixture into a piping bag attached a flower tip. Piping flower cookies onto a baking tray which is already put baking paper.

– Bake for about 10-12 mins or until it turns dark yellow, depending on your oven’s temperature.

– Decorate with some jam or marmalade. Serve!

Note: You can use this recipe and the method to make almond cookies as well. If making almond cookies, adjust the flour portions as follows: 135 gr flour, 25 gr cornstarch, 30 gr almond meal.
