Drøbak is a traditional Norwegian fjord town located along Oslofjord with around 13,000 inhabitants. The town is a popular seaside tourist spot for its beautiful landscapes, especially in summer, art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants and interesting stories about Julehuset- “the Christmas house”- a Christmas shop that has made Drøbak become a destination for Christmas letters from all around Europe, as the way it goes for the town Santa Clause in Indiana, USA.
Drøbak used to be the winter harbor of Oslo but nowadays it is a favorite tourist attraction in summer. It is quite convenient to access to the town from Oslo since buses and boats are available for daily trips to Drøbak 4-5 times each day during the summer time. In addition to the beautiful landscapes and interesting things about the local life, you can also find a small aquarium with local species of fish and shellfish open for tourists to see during their trips.
In short, like many other small traditional, old towns in Norway, Drøbak has both typical characteristics and architecture of Norwegian towns. However, this small old town also has its own charm with cozy and delicate corners, romantic landscapes and little interesting things that seal a strong impression on visitors’ minds. Some of those, you can see in the following pictures.
