One of my favorite desserts in winter or cold days is chocolate fondue. You can use it as a dessert or for noshing during the day. It is all good. It is easy, simple to make but can fascinate you from the first time you try it. The taste of chocolate mixed with the sweet and sour of fruit, crackers, cookies, marshmallow,… make you temporarily forget the cold days and enjoy it to the fullest. I will guide you below how to make a simple but tasty chocolate fondue.
Ingredients
150 gr chocolate, chopped (I used the 50% cacao type)
150 ml whipping cream
25-30 gr unsalted butter (about a table spoon, at room temperature)
A pinch of salt (optional)
30 gr sugar (optional, depending on your sweet tooth)
2 tbsp rum or the type of liqueur you like
1.5 tbsp caramel sauce (or vanilla sauce, or the type of fruit syrup you like)
Fruits and cookies you like
Method
Mix all the ingredients (except for rum) in a sauce pan and heat it up over medium heat.
Stir well while cooking so that all the ingredients will be mixed well together.
When the mixture simmers, turn off the heat and add in the rum and continue to stir well.
Pour the mixture into the fondue pot. If you don’t have, just use a normal ceramic bowl.
Light up a candle and put it under the fondue pot if you want to keep the chocolate warm during the time you are serving.
Place all types of fruit and cookies, crackers you like on plates around the fondue pot.
There is no pineapples here but that is also one of my favorite fruit types for dipping in the chocolate fondue. Some other suggestion is mango, raspberries…which are slightly sour, perfectly suitable for being mixed with chocolate, in my opinion.
When serving, dip the fruit and cookies into the chocolate and serve!
Enjoy!
