What can you say about the trends for this spring and summer season? The press has mentioned a lot about metal dresses, creative denim, mullet-like dresses, maxi skirts, tube dresses, mermaid inspiration and Viva Magenta- the color of 2023. However, if you look back at the fashion models that stormed the Spring/Summer 2017 fashion week, you’ll see that the trending designs from over 6 years ago still make you swoon just as much as the 2023 trends. It is also not difficult to see that this year’s trends have many repetitions of what once enchanted us more than 6 years ago. Take a look at some of the standout Spring-Summer 2017 collections below.
Tory Burch
Tory Burch’s collections usually bring out an impression of elegance and classic. They more or less remind you of the breaths of the 60s fashion. So does this collection. Nothing can be pointed as a breakthrough in this collection but Tory Burch somehow still manages to create a fresh breath by delicately using colors and print patterns for its designs. As a result, the collection still gives an enjoyable feeling for both of its loyal fans and ones who know it for the first time.
House of Holland
House of Holland has created an excellent collection for this Spring and Summer season. It might not bring you some “wow” big changes or breakthroughs in this collection but highlighted details such as tie-like scarves, striped/checkerboard cloth shoes, colour mix and match… make this collection stamp a nice impression on fashion lovers’ mind- an impression of muliebrity, harmony and romance
Chloé
In my opinion, together with Acne Studio’s, this collection by Chloe are two collections showing the most the spirit of comfort, liberty and feminism. However, Chloé still keeps a “safe” limit, especially on the collection colours and forms. I would rather see a bit more rule-breaking elements in this collection however it is still an irresistible attractiveness.
Altuzarra
Altuzarra’s collection is quite different from other collections I pick in my favorite list this time. Compared to the rest 5 collections, Altuzarra calls out the most clearly the young and dynamic spirit, both in forms, patterns and colours. Because of that, it is very interesting to watch this collection. Its designs also provide diverse choices for people. I could also pick the most items I like from this collection.
Rochas
The most eye catching characteristic of this collection is layer dresses and skirts. Rochas also prioritizes light materials which creates lovely and flying moves after each step of the people who wear the dresses. The other you can notices is the shoes. Despite the thick soles, the silk-like straps of the shoes make them looks much lighter and feminine.
Acne Studio
Ok, here it is, Acne Studio, the Spring-Summer collection I like the most. What you can see this collection is a combination of many interesting elements. You find both the spirit of liberty, comfort, elegance but also the inner strength of women who wear this collection. It somehow makes me see an idea of feminism throughout the collection.
